Marcel Giraud was born in 1937 in Vallauris, France. He left school at the age of 13 to become an apprentice potter at the workshop of Blaise Rubino. After working at other workshops over many years, he eventually opened his own studio in 1960. There, he created mostly utilitarian decorative objects in ceramic forms. Since 1975, it is said that Giraud has taken up painting, sculpture and continues to create sculptural figures, animals and other decorative objects in his retirement.
